Each web site project is unique. But a typical web project follows these general steps:
Step 1: FREE Consultation
Over the phone or in person we will talk with you to determine the scope of your project, what your needs are, what features you would like, what content, and gather information about your company and industry. We will answer all of your questions; give you solutions for maintenance, promotion, and lead capture issues. We will also gather aesthetic input from you to help guide us in the creative direction your site should take.
Step 2: Proposal
We will present you with a detailed proposal, which outlines deliverables, technology, sesign team, timeline, terms of service and, of course costs. We will work with you to answer all of your questions and to fine-tune the proposal so it fits your needs, schedule, and budget. Work begins once we have a signed agreement (and, in some cases, a down payment). At this point we set up hosting, set up email accounts, register domain names, and create a placeholder page.
Step 3: Design Phase
Typically, in the first phase we will present one or more design concepts. Ideally, the budget will call for two unique design concepts, presented in the form of .JPG mockups. These mockups show the look and feel of the site such as layout, color scheme, branding. Each concept will include a home page and at least one sub page. At your request we can provide additional mockups. After the first presentation we will undergo one or more rounds of revision to make sure the designs meet your needs.
Step 4: Production Phase - Template
Once we receive written approval of a finalized design concept we will move toward production. The first step is to create a rock-solid template. The mockups will be converted to HTML, PHP, JavaScript and CSS. We will always aim to stay true to the original design while adhering to the best practices of web coding and target browsers, hosting platforms, OSs, screen resolutions, and connection speeds. We will make sure the template is search-engine-optimized and takes advantage of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). In many cases we will create PHP includes so common elements of your site are dynamic and easy to update.
Step 4: Production Phase - Full Site
After the template has been completed and tested we will use it to generate the other pages of the site. Whether we are creating content for you or you are providing it yourself we will integrate it at this point. We will enhance the site with features, images, and other elements that were requested. At the end of this phase there will be more rounds of revision. Once they are done your site will be ready to launch.
Step 5: Site Launch and Post Launch
Once the site is launched we will help you determine your ongoing maintenance and promotion needs. We strive for a long-term relationship that empowers you to take control of any task, but can step in to help when needed.
